Brook Crompton is the original innovator in electric motor development. They are a leading provider of energy efficient electric motors. In 1904 a man by the name of Ernest Brook made his first motor in Huddersfield, UK, and he formed Brook Motors. Meanwhile, Colonel Crompton had formed his own company R.E.B. Crompton in 1878. It wasn't until the 1970s that the two companies came together to be known as Brook Crompton.
Over the years, Brook Crompton has acquired other electric companies and grown their company. Brook Motors, Crompton Parkinson, Electrodrives (which includes AEI and English Electric), and Newman and Hawker Siddeley Electric Motors have all been acquired by Brook Crompton.
Brook Crompton UK is still based in Huddersfield today and they hold an impressive stock which can be modified to suit any specific application required. By the year 1958, Brook Crompton had opened its first North American facility in Toronto, Canada. This was quickly followed by additional facilities in the USA where products were now being introduced and designed for these local markets.
The local businesses of Western Electric Asia and Brook Crompton merged in 1992 to form Brook Crompton Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd. Brook Crompton had been present in the Asia Pacific market for many years prior to the merger; with a sales office in Singapore and many country distributors in the region.
Today all Brook Crompton businesses are owned by Brook Crompton Holdings Ltd., a public listed company based out of Singapore. The company offers a wide range of industrial electric motor products.
Some of the motor offerings built by Brook Crompton UK include:
Single Phase Motor
Single phase motors are used in small workshops and farms and applications where you see these are with centrifugal pumps, fans, blowers, and high pressure washers. The motor has aluminum construction, and there are variable frame sizes as well as output capacities.
W Cast Iron Motors
This motor covers products with outputs with as little as 0.75kW to 400kW in frame sizes from 80 to 355L. These motors are suitable for use in china clay production, refrigeration, to food and drink. Because many applications have difficult operating conditions, with repeated starting and overloading, these motors can handle the adverse situations well.
Series 10 Motors
These Series 10 motors are a high quality industrial range of electric motors. These cast iron motors have an output range of 0.09kW to 900kW in frame sizes 56 to 450. This industrial electric motor is suitable in most every industrial application. Construction is either aluminum or cast iron.
Series 10 – Single Phase Motors
This high-quality industrial motor is suitable for many and diverse applications. These Series 10 – Single Phase motors are capacitor start – capacitor run aluminum motors. They have outputs from 0.25kW to 3.0kW in frame sizes of 71 to 100.
W High Output
The W High Output motor is available in frame sizes of 315 to 710, available in either low or high voltage. They also offer 2 pole, 4 pole, 6 pole, or 8 pole speeds. W High Output is IE3 efficient, for frame sizes up to and including 375kW. Variable output ranges for low voltage and high voltage.
